Stege and McCulloh earn All American Honors on the second day of the NCAA DI women's swim and dive championships

Georgia seniors Rachel Stege and Abby McCulloh placed in the top 16 and earned All-American Honors on the second day of competition at the women’s NCAA Division I swim and dive championships on Thursday.
Stege earned her third-consecutive First Team All-America honor in the 500 yard freestyle. She finished eighth with a time of 4:36.41.
McCulloh finished 12th in the 500 yard freestyle, earning second-team All-America accolades with a time of 4:37.99.
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, senior Eboni McCarty, graduate Julianna Stephens, freshman Katie Belle Sikes and sophomore Helena Jones finished 12th and earned second team All-American honors with a time of 1:27.23.
Sikes posted a 9.87 on the first 25 yards of her leg, which was the second-fastest time of any competitor in the event.
In the 200 yard individual medley, junior Ieva Maluka finished 21st in prelims with a time of 1:55.95, followed by freshman Marie Landreneau in 50th.
McCarty tied for 46th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.27, followed by Jones who tied for 52nd. Gretchen Walsh of Virginia took home gold and currently holds the record in this event.
Georgia is currently placed 13th with a score of 38. The Bulldogs are looking to improve upon their 13th place finish from last year.
Virginia is first on the podium with 225 points, followed by Stanford in second and Texas in third.
The women’s NCAA Division I Championships continue Friday with the 100 yard butterfly, 400 yard individual medley, 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard backstroke, 3-meter dive and 400 yard medley relay.
Prelims begin at 1 p.m. EDT followed by finals at 9 p.m. at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
